I was born in New Orleans, the son of a native New Orleanian father and a Puerto Rican mother.  I believe that this multi-cultural background has been the source of my lifelong interest in peoples and cultures of the world.  In college I was introduced to anthropology and, later, to archaeology.  I was able to pursue a career in archaeology at the University of New Orleans, Archaeological and Cultural Research Program, in no small part due to the encouragement of my mentor, Richard C. Beavers.  
Following nearly 10 years at the ACRP, I was employed at the Department of the Interior, Minerals Management Service as an archaeologist and social scientist for another 9 years.  I then left government service to pursue a successful career as an independent geologist, from which I have recently retired.  
Throughout my life, I have had an abiding interest in, and love for, my native city.  I find the history, the culture, the geology, the geography, the food, the music and the people of New Orleans fascinating.  Over my careers, I have done a great deal of technical, scientific writing.  French Quarter Saints is my first foray into writing fiction.  It will not be my last.
